Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a versatile Medical Assistant to provide clinical and clerical support across Primary and Specialty Care settings. The role includes performing vitals, medication and allergy reconciliation, screenings, and patient history, with opportunities to work across multiple offices.

Responsibilities cover point-of-care testing, in-house procedures, scheduling, chart prep, referrals, and authorizations, with travel between offices as needed.

Qualifications

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program or CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic credential.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association obtained within 3 Months of hire.
  • All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.
  • At least one year of experience in direct patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Vitals, outside medication reconciliation, allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
  • Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
  • Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed.
  • Provides administrative support including scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check-in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
  • Floats to other offices based on business needs.

Job Description

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

Clinical/Administrative duties included but not limited to:

  • Floats to other offices based on business needs.

Education
  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.
Experience
  • In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
  • Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred.
