Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is hiring a Medical Assistant for our Float Team, covering Primary and Specialty Care locations across the region. You’ll gain diverse clinical environments, support patient care, and collaborate with multiple teams.

This role travels between offices and provides both administrative and clinical support, including vitals, chart prep, referrals, and in-house procedures, with opportunities to advance through our clinical ladder.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR active CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification.
• BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
• All credentials maintained throughout employment.
• At least one year of experience in direct patient care preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, reconcile medications and allergies, perform screenings, collect patient history and support virtual health.
• Conduct point-of-care testing with quality control and proper documentation.
• Assist providers with in-house procedures as needed.
• Provide scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
• Float to other offices as needed to meet business needs.

Job Description

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

Clinical/Administrative duties included but not limited to:

• Vitals, outside medication reconciliation, outside allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
• Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
• Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed
• Provides administrative support including but not limited to scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
• Floats to other offices based on business needs.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Experience:

• In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
• Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
