Job summary

Kingman Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to support Physician Services in an outpatient setting. You will assist with patient intake, vital signs, and rooming, under the guidance of physicians and nurses.

The role involves informing and coordinating with patients, scheduling appointments, and performing light lab duties per CLIA waivers. Prior MA experience and completion of an approved training program are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program or equivalent certification.
• Certification via a recognized governing body is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a physician, PA, or NP.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for exams including vital signs and history.
• Data entry, balancing accounts, charges, and collecting payments.
• Schedule and confirm appointments; maintain communication between patients and staff.
• Perform CLIA waived lab tests and venipuncture if needed; follow proficiency testing.

Position Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for patient care under the direct supervision (in the office suite or exam room) of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
• Responsible for maintaining all applicable KHI Policies and Procedures.
• Escorts patients to exam room and prepares patient for exam including vital signs, history, and reason for seeking care.
• Cross trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charges fees and collect payments due.
• Schedules/confirms appointments.
• Maintains and facilitates communication between patients, family and clinical staff.
• Reports as necessary to Public Health at direction of provider.
• Maintains work area including exam rooms, supplies, medication and immunizations.
• Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens; performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests; may perform venipuncture.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High School diploma or Equivalent.

Must Also Meet One Of The Following Criteria

• Attended an approved medical assistant training program, a copy of the diploma or transcripts are on file, by one of the following: The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; or The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools
• Attended an unapproved training program and successfully passes the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by either the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute and a copy of that certification is on file.
• Directly supervised by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours prior to February 2000. (Letter from physician, physician group, or physician assistant must be on file)
• Completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States and a copy of that certificate is on file.
• Completed an unapproved medical assistant training program and was employed as a medical assistant after program completion, prior to February of 2000.

Preferences

Experience:

One to two years' experience as a medical assistant in a clinical outpatient setting.
