Position: Medical Assistant

Note: Medical Assistants are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled clinical professional working within the scope of practice and standards of excellence and quality. They provide indirect and/or direct patient care under the provider's direction.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in completing the patient’s chief complaint and document patient/family needs.
2. Identify significant changes in patient condition and report to the provider.
3. Participate in planning and implementing patient care within scope.
4. Administer medications/vaccines as directed, following state regulations.
5. Accurately document in EMR and manage patient communications.
6. Order supplies, track referrals, labs, and diagnostics, and dispose of contaminated supplies.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

• Medical assisting certification (required within 12 months): CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMAC, or NCCMA.
• BLS certification preferred upon hire, required prior to independent patient care.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma; vocational/technical degree preferred.
• Enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program within 30 days of employment.
• Minimum one year healthcare experience or 24 months clerical physician practice experience preferred.
