Job Summary

Provides assistance with patient examinations and treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider (physician or advanced practice provider).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with treatments ordered by the provider, performed under supervision.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and document on charts. Prepare treatment rooms.
  • Perform clerical duties: answer calls, maintain records, schedule, and file.
  • Manage supplies: order, stock, and maintain a clean environment.
  • Document provider encounters, diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions. Transcribe orders for labs, radiology, and medications.
  • Maintain safety and alertness at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • For Wisconsin: High School diploma/GED or 10 years' experience, plus graduation from an accredited medical assisting program or equivalent certification.

Experience

  • No experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing, speech, and vision for communication and identification.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying of 0-25 lbs; occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
  • Repetitive movements and reaching.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from recognized agencies (e.g., CCMA, CMA, CMAC, RMA, MAC, NCMA, NRCMA, RMA from AAMP or AMT).
