Job summary

American Family Care Dalton is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. The role works directly with a franchised location and duties/benefits may vary by franchise.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree in Medical Assisting, AMT/SMA certification preferred, and hands-on experience with vitals, phlebotomy, and basic lab duties. AFC offers comprehensive benefits and a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Medical Assisting or equivalent.
• AMT registration and/or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience in outpatient clinical setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare for exam.
• Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all tests are performed accurately and timely.
• Administer prescribed medications per procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for processing.
• Perform laboratory tests and equipment maintenance per instructions.
• Handle lab messages and callbacks.
• Conduct drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Document immunizations accurately and administer as required.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
