SMF-Sutter Med Foundation- Central

Position Overview

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team by performing back office and patient-related tasks to support high-quality patient care. Ensures smooth patient and workflow within the department and assists in implementing the medical plan of care. Uses education, technical skills, and patient interaction to gain confidence and cooperation from patients, families, and other healthcare providers. Performs all duties under the direction of a clinician.

Job Details
  • This position is limited term for 26 weeks.
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program approved by the Medical Board of California (must present diploma within 90 days).
  • Or equivalent Sutter Health on-the-job training or training program.
Certifications & Licensure
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.
  • MA Certification recognized by a California Medical Board approved agency (eligible for incentive in 2025).
Experience
  • At least 1 year of relevant recent experience.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, equipment, and terminology.
  • Competent in basic Medical Assisting skills like vital signs, patient prep, injections.
  • Ability to interpret data and instructions in various formats.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining sensitive information.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
Additional Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently or in a team, and solve standard problems.
  • Build collaborative relationships with healthcare team members.
Travel

As needed.

Work Schedule

Days, full-time, 10-hour shifts, working Friday, Thursday, Tuesday, Wednesday. No weekend requirements. 40 hours/week.

Benefits & Other Details

Includes benefits, non-union, non-exempt status, and a pay range of $27.88 to $33.45/hour. Salary may vary based on location, experience, and other factors.
