The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals, as appropriate based on the level of patient contact.

Qualifications
  • Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification/registration; OR 6 months of clinic MA experience; OR the ability to successfully complete the INTEGRIS Health Caregiver Placement Program (CPP)
  • 6 months of customer service experience preferred
  • CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of employment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Verbal/Written)
  • For IMG Float Pool: If position requires intraday travel, incumbents must operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non-INTEGRIS-owned) and must have a current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
  • Gather and document information about patient condition, including lab values, pain levels, education needs, nutritional status, and potential complications
  • Contribute to patient assessment/re-assessment
  • Monitor and document patient status
  • Participate in developing and evaluating the plan of care, including medication administration (excluding narcotics)
  • Manage high call volumes while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette
  • Organize workflow to meet patient needs promptly
  • Retrieve and transport medications as needed

Reports to the assigned director, manager, supervisor, or lead. This position may have additional physical or respiratory fit test requirements; please consult the Physical Demands SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for details. Moderate exposure to hazards, including infectious and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals, with standard precautions required.
