Qualifications

  • Hochschulabschluss erforderlich, medizinische Assistenz-Zertifizierung innerhalb von 6 Monaten nach Einstellung.
  • BLS-Zertifizierung innerhalb von 90 Tagen nach Einstellung erforderlich.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow and performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and recording vitals. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies as needed.

  • Interacts professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, reflecting Jefferson's values.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and verifies proper identification.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Stays proficient with and accurately documents within information technology systems within scope of practice.
  • Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures; may perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections using appropriate skills.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
  • Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania locations.
  • Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required if a current Einstein employee in a Medical Assistant role hired before 7/1/2024 transferring within Einstein entities.
