Assists physicians with patient examinations and treatments, and performs routine tasks to ensure smooth functioning of clinical and clerical offices.

Job Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
  • Greet patients and escort them to examination or procedure rooms.
  • Take vital signs and accurately record results; update patient history including tobacco use, allergies, medications, and immunizations.
  • Remove dressings and staples, prepare patients for examinations or procedures.
  • Assist providers with examinations and procedures, including room setup and obtaining signed consents.
  • Perform point-of-care lab testing and record results.
  • Report and document results accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory procedures.
  • Restock clinical supplies and manage inventory of medications and refrigerator temperatures.
  • Clean rooms and sterilize equipment.
  • Review charts, check for pending test results, and ensure readiness for next day appointments.
  • Complete physician orders, obtain insurance authorizations.
  • Document patient information in electronic medical records.
  • Travel to other offices as needed.
  • Perform other duties as deemed appropriate.
Clerical Duties
  • Manage appointment scheduling and update patient information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-pays and payments.
  • Review charges and enter data into computer systems.
  • Retrieve and respond to messages and inquiries, maintain confidentiality.
  • Schedule appointments and ensure security of patient information.
Qualifications

Completion of an accredited medical assistant, nursing assistant, or practical nurse program, or at least two years of relevant experience. Current CPR certification.

Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, OSHA guidelines, and computer systems. Ability to establish cooperative relationships, respond promptly, maintain accurate records, and act in emergencies.
