Job summary

University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Internal Medicine Midtown clinic in Wichita, KS. The role supports providers with rooming patients, chart prep, vitals, and care-related tasks including immunizations and basic procedures.

Requirements include CMA or RMA preferred, MA or equivalent program completion, and BLS within 30 days. EHR experience (eClinicalWorks) and 1–2 years of medical office experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One to two years medical office experience preferred.
• EHR experience preferred (we use eClinicalWorks).
• Current BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant or RMA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients for providers, including chart prep, chief complaint, HPI, medication reconciliation and vitals.
• Perform care-related tasks such as immunizations and injections, CLIA-waived lab testing, suture/staple removal, EKGs, wound care, x-rays (if certified), and assist with in-office procedures.
• Respond to calls from patients, pharmacies, and other medical professionals; relay orders and results for medications, labs, imaging, and DME.
• Clean and stock exam rooms; sterilize instruments.
• Participate in clinic process improvement activities and team meetings to ensure efficient operations.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
