Job summary

Henry Ford Health, based in Detroit, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing leadership in delivering compassionate care and performing administrative and clinical tasks. You will greet and escort patients, obtain histories and vitals, and prepare patients for examinations.

Under supervision, you will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care and contribute to a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a 160-hour externship.
• Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years.
• Current CMA certification with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Licensed Paramedic/EMT with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable experience.
• Obtain and record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, assisting providers as needed.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years, OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years, OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
