Job summary

Centura College is seeking a Medical Assistant Instructor in Newport News, VA. The role involves delivering subject matter instruction to students in classroom or lab settings and performing related teaching and administrative duties.

The position requires at least 3 years of practical experience in the subject area, certifications (RMA/CCMA/CMA) and BLS, plus strong computer skills and flexibility to support a dynamic educational environment. A 5-day paid instructor training program is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum 3 years related practical work experience in the subject matter.
• RMA/CCMA/CMA certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) current or within 6 months of hire date.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven educational environment.
• Excellent computer skills with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis and create a welcoming environment conducive to learning.
• Assist Program Coordinator and leaders in curriculum development, scheduling, and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab.
• Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files.
• Submit attendance, grades, and evaluations to Supervisor as required by procedures.
• Notify Supervisor of any issues requiring attention.
• Attend and/or conduct in-service training and mandatory meetings.
• Assist with inventory and replenishment requests for department equipment and supplies.
• Alert Supervisor to student absences and trends.
• Complete other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
