Job description

Medical Assistant Instructor (.6 FTE, continuing) @ WHS

DESCRIPTION: Responsible for both classroom, lab, and clinical instruction/supervision of selected courses of the MA program. Responsibilities include preparing teaching materials, teaching assigned classes, assessing learning, assigning grades, and maintaining records. The instructor is expected to teach according to the approved syllabi. Provide high-quality instruction in assigned classes that is consistent with the MAERB Core Curriculum and college curriculum standards. Foster a positive, caring, and equitable learning environment where diversity is respected and advanced. Assess student mastery of the course and learning outcomes. Integrate current computer technology in the classroom. Plan course instruction based on approved Master Course Outlines/Syllabi to ensure course content and objectives are met. Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate the learning styles of a diverse student population, including new technologies enabling distance learning. Supervise clinical experience for students. Evaluate students' performance on a systematic basis, ensuring competency-based goals are met. Prepare and maintain student records related to learning activities. Maintain availability to assist students with learning difficulties. Participate in Professional Development activities that foster growth in best practices for teaching/learning and practice standards in industry. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, staff, community groups, and volunteers is critical. Attend building/district meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: Credential in good standing as a certified medical assistant, by an organization whose credentialing current through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); Clinical Medical Assistant Certification Examination through the National Health Career Association (NHA); National Certified Medical Assistant Examination through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or Clinical Medical Assistant Certification Examination through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). A minimum of three (3) years of employment in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants. Preferred Qualifications : Current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives included in the assigned teaching. Associate's Degree or higher. Must complete a Career and Technical Education (CTE) competency-based two-year training course required to obtain a vocational teaching certificate. This instructor would need to plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction following the building, district, and state academic and Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards. Demonstrated skills in collaboration, organization, and leadership. Strong communication and technical skills are required, and experience working with high school-age students is preferred. The ability to work as a team member is a must. Must have demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, and community members. Demonstrated ability to organize and complete detailed paperwork to maintain DSHS, DOH, State, and local program standards and requirements is critical. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this job.

Professional growth reimbursement, $1000/year for qualified expenses.

Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave and 3 personal leave days.

Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/FTE.

In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
