UPMC Infectious Disease Assoc is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant!

Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. Staggered shifts are offered starting as early as 7:30am. No weekends or observed holidays, ensuring you have time to relax and recharge!

Must have reliable transportation as travel to Carlisle, York, Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, or Lancaster may be required. Travel required is about 10-25%.

The salary range for this position is $18.49-$27.76 based on experience.

The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  1. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
  2. Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
  3. Relay instructions to patients/families.
  4. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  5. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
  6. Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
  7. Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  8. Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  9. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to protocol.
  10. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
  11. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
  12. Check schedules and organize patient flow.
  13. Answer calls and provide pertinent information including patient education as directed.
  14. Perform clinic procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
  15. Assist physicians with procedures.
  16. Comply with regulatory agency requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all policies.
  17. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision when appropriate.
  18. Perform other front office responsibilities as required.
  19. Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
