What You Will Do As a Medical Assistant

As a clinical professional, you assist Physicians &Advanced Practice Providers in Clinics and Physican Offices. Medical Assistants prepare patients for visits by collecting medical histories, recordingvital signs, prepping for exams, assisting with medical procedures, blood draws, vaccinations, and injections. Medical Assistants will also assist with patient scheduling, referrals, insurance, pre-authorizations and billing.

What’s Required

NON-CREDENTIALED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program Approved by Munson Healthcare.
  • Or, 1 year of relevant experience working in a physician practice or similar healthcare provider/patient support setting.

CREDENTIALED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • Credentialed as a Medical Assistant from an approved Munson Healthcare Credentialing Organization
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Health career Association
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCTT) by the National Center for Competency Testing
  • Certified Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association
  • Other MHC approved credentialing organization.
  • **If hired/credentialed prior to 3/1/24 will be grandfathered in with prior credentialing body.
  • Must meet any requirements to maintain credential.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION

  • Basic Life Support Certification Preferred OR must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained
