DescriptionProvide administrative and patient care support to physicians and other healthcare professionals in department clinics. The MA 3 will travel and work at department clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage. Other duties, as assigned.
Salary Range: $28.06 - $37.02 hourly
QualificationsRequired:
- A medical assistant diploma or certificate as follows:
- Documentation of completing a medical assistant program from an accredited medical assistant school by ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP, or ABHES.
- OR documentation of national certification for medical assistants issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT.
- OR documentation of completing a medical assistant program with at least 10 hours of training in administering injections, skin tests, venipuncture, and medication administration by inhalation.
- BLS Certificate
- Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomatology and life-threatening medical problems
- Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM, intradermal, and subcutaneous medications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Interpersonal skills to interact courteously and compassionately with patients, families, colleagues, and physicians
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, communication, and work standards
- Organizational skills to facilitate smooth work and patient flow
- Knowledge to schedule patient referrals to specialists
- Understanding of safety requirements when handling biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments
- Ability to perform accurate patient sample testing for waived tests
- Communication skills for interacting with diverse populations
- Decision-making skills for job duties
- Ability to maintain composure in emergencies or stressful situations
- Knowledge of Obstetrics and Gynecology terminology and procedures
- Flexibility to work hours and travel as needed
Preferred:
- Proficiency with computerized patient care systems and web-based programs such as EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Bilingual in Spanish
