PeaceHealth is seeking a Medical Assistant II - Urology for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The salary range is $25.88 - $34.85 per hour, with the hiring rate dependent on education, training, work experience, and union terms.

In this role you will assist physicians/providers in delivering patient care, prepare exam rooms, record vitals, and manage patient files within the EMR. WA MA certification and an accredited MA program are required, with BLS upon hire.

Qualifications

  • WA State MA certification required.
  • Accredited MA program or MOA track with MOA certification eligibility.
  • BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Experience in a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians/providers in patient care per scope of Medical Assistant.
  • Prepare exam rooms, take history and vital signs, and document in EMR.
  • Administer injections, apply dressings, and support wound care per orders.
  • Schedule tests and follow-up appointments; maintain records and data entry.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Medical Assistant II - Urology for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $25.88 - $34.85.

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

In collaboration with the healthcare team, assists physicians/providers in the delivery of patient care working within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment or anesthesia interview as applicable. Takes and records patient history and vital signs as applicable.
  • Prepares exam and/or treatment rooms; select, setup and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations, procedures and/or anesthesia interview as applicable.
  • Gives injections, applies splints and dressings, and facilitates simple wound management under provider orders.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • May transport specimens.
  • May assist in scheduling patients for tests, initial and follow up appointments.
  • May maintain patient files, records, and other information including entry of data into electronic medical record.
  • May provide phone screening of patient to appropriate clinical staff and/or physician.
  • Collaborates with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Accredited Program Required: Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant that allows caregiver to sit for the MOA certification exam will be considered (e.g. associate degree in Allied Health) orApprenticeship Required: Medical Assistant
  • Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Experience in a medical office
  • Required: WA State MA Certification WASHINGTON REQUIREMENT ONLY: State of Washington Medical Assistant - certified licensure. State of Washington Medical Assistant - Interim Certified credential accepted. Caregiver must obtain Medical Assistant- Certified (Non-Interim) credential within 12 months of date of issuance of interim credential by the State of Washington
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)

  • Proficiency in the use of computer and office equipment. Familiarity with desktop computing tools, multi-line phone systems and insurance billing preferred. (Required)

  • Understand the principles of asepsis if applicable. (Required)

WASHINGTON:

  • WA MA-C + National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
