PeaceHealth is seeking a Medical Assistant - Anesthesia Pre-Op for a Per Diem/Relief Variable position in Washington. The role supports physicians in pre-operative anesthesia interviews, patient prep, and data entry in the EMR system.

The incumbent will prepare rooms, administer injections as ordered, and assist with scheduling and patient flow. Certification in WA and Basic Life Support are required for hire, with ongoing training and collaboration across the care team.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Medical Assistant - Anesthesia Pre-Op for a Per Diem/Relief Variable position.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $26.76 – $36.03.

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

In collaboration with the healthcare team, assists physicians/providers in the delivery of patient care working within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant.

Essential Functions

• Prepares patients for examination and treatment or anesthesia interview as applicable. Takes and records patient history and vital signs as applicable.
• Prepares exam and/or treatment rooms; select, setup and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations, procedures and/or anesthesia interview as applicable.
• Gives injections, applies splints and dressings, and facilitates simple wound management under provider orders.
• Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• May transport specimens.
• May assist in scheduling patients for tests, initial and follow up appointments.
• May maintain patient files, records, and other information including entry of data into electronic medical record.
• May provide phone screening of patient to appropriate clinical staff and/or physician.
• Collaborates with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Accredited Program Required: Medical Assistant orMedical Office Assistant that allows caregiver to sit for the MOA certification exam will be considered (e.g. associate degree in Allied Health) or Apprenticeship Required: Medical Assistant
• Minimum of 1 year Preferred: experience in a medical office
• Required: WA State MA Certification WASHINGTON REQUIREMENT ONLY: State of Washington Medical Assistant – certified licensure. State of Washington Medical Assistant – Interim Certified credential accepted. Caregiver must obtain Medical Assistant- Certified (Non-Interim) credential within 12 months of date of issuance of interim credential by the State of Washington
• Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support

Working Conditions

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
• Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
• Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
• Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
• Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
