Acts as a key resource to the Diabetic team/Primary care sites for managing Diabetic DME, prescriptions, testing, and medication to ensure patients receive necessary testing and medical management for optimal health outcomes.Job Description:
Location: Primarily remote position with in-person coverage as needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
Obtain prior authorizations for diabetes and GLP-1 weight management medications and DME supplies.
Order diabetes supplies through DME suppliers for CGMs and insulin pumps.
Review records, gather, and prepare documentation to support insurance authorization requests.
Follow up on the progress of authorization and supply requests.
Appeal denied authorization requests.
Communicate with providers and patients regarding authorizations and DME orders.
Assist with patient phone calls and portal messages.
Manage pharmacy and patient medication refill requests.
Assist with daily fax files for Needham, Wayland, Dedham.
Manage and maintain the Diabetic Management pool.
Educate coworkers on insurance coverage guidelines, policies, and formulary changes.
Download data from pumps, meters, and sensors.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
Medical Assistant Certificate.
1-3 years related experience.
Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-3 years as a Medical Assistant in a primary care setting.
