Qualifications

Performs delegated medical tasks, assists providers and nursing staff with patient care and may perform clerical duties. This position will utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) for documentation purposes. Fulfillment of job duties requires access to medication storage areas and to transport medications to/ from medication storage and delivery areas. Fully participate in the day-to-day operations and patient flow and acts as a resource for Medical Assistant I. Demonstrates leadership by collaboration, teamwork, communication, accountability, customer service, and advanced knowledge of clinical skills.

Primary Responsibilities

• Performs and documents comprehensive clinical duties, including patient intake, chief complaints, vital signs, screenings, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, medication administration, vaccinations, and provider support during procedures.
• Ensures safe, efficient, and compliant clinical operations by maintaining exam rooms and equipment, following infection control protocols, managing supplies, and adhering to hospital and practice policies.
• Supports practice operations through timely communication, assistance with front desk functions, patient education, regulatory compliance, safety reporting, participation in process improvement initiatives, and active engagement in team meetings.
• Serves as a clinical resource and mentor by supporting staff training, competency development, onboarding of new medical assistants and students, continuous learning, and other duties that contribute to high-quality patient care and team performance.

Education & Experience - Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Special circumstances to consider an exception may include: (1 year of supervised work experience in a medical assisting field within the last 3 years; or 2 years of supervised work experience in a medical assisting field within the last 5 years). These should be vetted by Human Resources Director and Department Director.
• Current BLS certification.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred
