Job summary

Franciscan Alliance is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in ambulatory clinics in Indianapolis. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining histories, documenting in the EHR, and assisting with vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, and medication reconciliation under supervision.

Qualifications include a Medical Assistant program or 5 years of MA experience, a High School Diploma/GED, and BLS. Certification in CMA/RMA/NCMA is preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Completed Medical Assistant program required.
• 5 years MA experience in lieu of program accepted.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Multiple MA certifications (RMA/CMA/NCMA/NCCT/AMT/NHA) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support clinical duties across ambulatory clinics.
• Room patients and take vitals.
• Obtain comprehensive medical history and document in the EHR.
• Administer vaccines, injections, and medications under RN/Provider supervision.
• Phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and medication reconciliation.

At Franciscan, our Medical Assistants are critical for supporting a variety of clinical duties for multiple ambulatory clinics. This role assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, executing physician orders for lab testing, entering information in electronic medical record system, and functions as a liaison between patients, coworkers, and providers.

• Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include: rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
• Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
• Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.

• Required Program In lieu of program, 5 years of medical assistant experience
