Position Details

Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Hours TBD, No Weekends, No Holidays

Responsibilities

Under supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, performs duties related to direct patient care and clinical direction, ensuring patient care is provided according to organizational standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Completing ordered procedures and treatments
  • Ensuring smooth patient flow
  • Performing general lab work
  • Instructing patients regarding procedures, treatments, and needs
  • Carrying out medical orders and referrals accurately and timely
  • Performing registration and scheduling activities
  • Maintaining EMR files and front office functions
  • Potentially performing computerized physician order entry if directed
  • Precepting current MA team members or externs as requested
Qualifications
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification required; other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant program graduation preferred
  • Current certification in medical assisting from recognized certifying bodies (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, CMAC)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA regulations
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • TB validation (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Understanding of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master clinical competencies per current policies and checklists
  • Basic math and accurate data entry skills
