Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant II for a full-time, onsite float position across Central and Western Ohio regions. Mon-Fri, 7:30am-5pm, with a $2,000 sign-on bonus that is taxable.

The role provides proficient clinical and administrative support under a Provider or licensed Nurse. Responsibilities include patient prep, vital signs, phlebotomy as needed, data collection for care plans, lab specimen handling, accurate EPIC documentation, scheduling, and general office

Qualifications

Phlebotomy knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Experience in healthcare environment preferred.
MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) experience required.
EPIC or similar EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares patients for examination; records vital signs; phlebotomy as needed; administers medications per policy.
Collects and assesses data for discharge planning under licensed nurse guidance.
Collects and processes laboratory specimens per policy.
Communicates patient findings to Provider/Nurse.
Documents care in EPIC accurately and timely.
Handles appointment scheduling and patient tracking as needed.
Performs department-specific clinical duties (POCT, screenings).
Cleans and stocks examination rooms; supports office duties.
Builds positive relationships with patients and families.
