Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support clinicians in the Gyn Oncology Clinic. The MA II will escort patients, take vital signs, perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests.

Under the direction of a licensed clinician, the MA II provides care and clerical support, processes prescriptions/refills, maintains patient records, and collaborates with insurers on pre-authorization as needed. This role requires BLS and MA credential within stated timeframes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS certification within 3 months of hire or be terminated.
• Medical Assistant credential must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy and point-of-care tests per clinic standards.
• Prepare and administer non-intravenous injections as directed.
• Assist in routine physical exams and clinical procedures.
• Review lab results and promptly notify physicians of abnormalities.
• Maintain supplies, chart patient information, and enter data in EMR.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Medical Assistant credential (MA) approved by MA Department of Health
