Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant II to provide essential clinical and administrative support across its Southern California locations. The role includes patient prep, rooming, basic nursing procedures, phlebotomy, and telehealth assistance, under licensed supervision.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited MA program, and BLS certification, with at least one year of primary care experience and familiarity with lab orders

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• One year experience in primary care clinical assisting.
• Experience performing lab tests and processing lab and diagnostic study orders.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients before appointments and update records.
• Set up exam and treatment rooms with required instruments and equipment.
• Greet patients, escort to exam rooms, complete rooming with vitals and history.
• Assist providers or nurses during examinations or procedures with universal precautions.
• Perform basic nursing procedures, including thermal applications, dressing changes, ADLs as needed.
• Administer injections and perform phlebotomy under supervision.
• Collect and handle laboratory specimens per OSHA and CLIA guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable environment and ensure sterile technique.
• Manage medical stock inventory and replenish supplies.
• Assist with administrative tasks like pre-certifying procedures and scheduling tests.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Attend CPR, OSHA, and CLIA trainings and stay updated on best practices.
• Support telehealth visits with chart prep, patient contact, and virtual rooming.
