NC Heart and Vascular is seeking a: Medical Assistant to join our team of professionals serving cardiovascular patients in a physician practice setting. Our office is located in Raleigh. The work hours are 40 hours/week M-F 8:00a-4:30p, and the office is closed on nights, weekends, and holidays. Summary:

The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic. Works under the clinical supervision of the provider and the general direction of the manager/supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs rooming and intake processes, including vital signs and patient data collection.
2. Collects patient and family medical and social history data.
3. Reviews current medication list, allergies, and pharmacy preferences.
4. Assists providers during treatments, examinations, and procedures.
5. Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
6. Administers medications under provider supervision.
7. Performs tests like EKGs and eye exams under provider direction.
8. Reviews patient records for routine health screenings.
9. Prepares exam rooms with supplies and educational materials.
10. Provides post-visit instructions and educational materials.
11. Maintains exam and treatment rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments.
12. Assists with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
13. Answers clinic calls and assists with in-basket messages.
14. Assists in emergency situations as directed.
15. Additional duties include precepting new hires, training staff, maintaining immunization and medication registries, and managing clinic supplies.

Other Information:

Education: None required; completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Medical Assistant certification (AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA) and BLS certification required.

Experience: At least one year of full-time Medical Assistant experience.

Skills/Abilities: Effective communication, teamwork, computer skills, and ability to perform essential functions.
