Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health (NOAH) seeks a Medical Assistant II to maintain patient flow, take vitals, prepare exam rooms, assist providers, and manage vaccines. This on-site role supports training, audits, and daily clinic operations in a community health setting.

The MA II will float to cover clinic needs, work in a team, and ensure quality patient care while adhering to safety standards and NOAH policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or completion of MA program per BOMEX training guidelines.
  • BLS certification required.
  • 1 year MA experience in a medical setting, or 6 months at NOAH.
  • 1+ year of EHR experience preferred.
  • 1+ year coordinating a vaccine program preferred.
  • 1+ year supervisory/training experience preferred.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug testing; fingerprint clearance within 7 days after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain efficient patient flow and perform MA duties.
  • Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record health history.
  • Assist with examinations, injections, EKGs, specimen collection, and treatments.
  • Manage inventory and prepare exam rooms; ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Check in/out patients, schedule appointments, and process referrals.
  • Coordinate referrals for therapies and laboratory services.
  • Support training of MA staff and share best practices.
  • Assist with meetings, trainings, and community outreach as required.

Join us in making a difference in our community while enjoying a fulfilling and rewarding career.Job Summary:The Medical Assistant II is responsible for maintaining efficient patient flow within the clinic, performs all duties of a Medical Assistant (MA), supports supervisors in training new MA staff, and is responsible for operational and clerical tasks, project work, and assigned programs. This position will demonstrate strong clinical skills and expertise in all relevant systems and processes. The MA II is considered a “float” position and therefore serves as a resource to step in and cover any needs of the clinic.Supervisory Responsibilities:Provides advice and training to the Medical Assistant staff.Ensures staff adhere to and follow all organizational policies, safety standards, and healthcare regulations.Duties/Responsibilities:Performs regular internal audits on departmental processes and procedures.Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered a top-level contributor regarding EHR systems or other related department systems, including systems training and processes.Oversees inventory, storage, handling, tracking, and reporting of all vaccines daily in clinic and during events.Works in a team model to improve the patient's experience, provide clear communication and access to care, and support processes that will improve patient satisfaction.Prepares patients for examination, takes vitals, and records patients' health history.Sets-up EKG machines, administers injections and medications, and performs routine specimen collection and tests.Prepare equipment and examination rooms and cleans instruments.Assists provider with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.Manages inventory of medical supplies and equips exam rooms with appropriate supplies.Receives and directs phone calls, schedules appointments, checks-in patients, obtains necessary patient information to file and updates patient records, and ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients.Check out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services.Organizes and communicates with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, testing and specialist referrals.Submits appropriate referrals for employees.Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:Strong knowledge of medical practices and front and back-office procedures.Strong knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.Strong customer service skills.Detail-oriented and professional.Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED required.Certified or Registered Medical Assistant OR completion of a Medical Assistant program that meets the BOMEX training guidelines OR completion of a United States Armed Forces medical services training program OR meet necessary guidelines as described in Arizona Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code, Title 4, Chapter 16, Article 4, Section R4-16-401.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.1 year of experience as an MA in a medical setting, or 6 months of experience as an MA at NOAH.1+ years of experience using an EHR system preferred.1+ years of experience coordinating a vaccine program preferred.1+ years of supervisory and/or training experience preferred.Other Requirements:New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.
