Job summary

AltaMed Health Services in California is seeking a Medical Assistant II to serve as an ambassador in the clinic, PSC, or Patient Registry team. The MA II delivers direct patient care, performs routine procedures, and provides clerical support in the clinical setting.

The MA II documents all encounters in the EHR and supports back-office processes with compassion and efficiency. You will mentor junior staff and help achieve department goals; if assigned to the Patient Service Center, some duties

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certificate and high school diploma required.
• Minimum of 1 year back office MA experience preferred in outpatient/clinic settings.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; national MA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient care procedures and clerical support in the clinic.
• Document all encounters in the EHR and assist with back-office processes.
• Mentor and train Medical Assistant team; some duties may be telephone-based at PSC.

Job Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) II functions as an AltaMed ambassador at the assigned clinic, PSC, or Patient Registry team. The MA is welcoming and attentive to the needs of all patients and creates a positive patient experience by managing expectations while demonstrating compassion and respect. The MA assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures and technical/clerical support services in the clinical setting. The MA builds relationships with patients, listening to them and gaining their trust. The MA demonstrates compassion and respect and will be proactive in managing patients’ expectations. In addition, the Medical Assistant documents all specialties in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and assists with administrative responsibilities that include providing feedback on Back-Office processes to the Nursing Supervisor/Manager. Lastly, the MA assists in achieving department goals and objectives by providing support and guidance to the Medical Assistant team as a mentor and trainer. If working at the Patient Service Center, the MA provides other duties over the telephone.

Minimum Requirements

• A Medical Assistant certificate, along with a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a back office Medical Assistant preferred in the outpatient setting, medical practice, or clinic setting.
• Phlebotomy certified preferred
• Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification, preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese, depending on location, strongly preferred.
• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Compensation

$26.00 - $30.55 hourly
