Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is actively hiring a Medical Assistant I to support physicians and clinicians in delivering compassionate care in our Maryland facilities. The role includes assisting with procedures, patient vitals, specimen handling, and maintaining exam rooms, with on‑site training provided.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of MA or EMT-Paramedic experience, with CPR preferred and strong EHR proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year experience as Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic.
• CPR preferred.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with office procedures.
• Chaperone providers during patient examination.
• Take pre‑op and post‑op photos of patients.
• Maintain surgical instruments and transport to Central Sterile (CSS).
• Process surgical specimens and transport to Pathology.
• Maintain and stock exam rooms.
• Take patient vital signs and update EHR.
• Administer injections, blood draws, and immunizations as directed.
• Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen processing.
• Provide patient education and instructions.
