Job summary

Open Door Community Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant I to provide clinical and administrative support in a patient-centered care team setting. The MA I assists in examinations, records histories and vitals, and prepares patients for provider visits using the CA MA scope of practice.

The role requires high school diploma or MA training, CPR, and injection certification; experience with Epic EMR is preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of the MA Scope of Practice in California.
• Knowledgeable of injection routes (SQ, IM, ID) and the seven rights of administration.
• Ability to chart patient information accurately and confidentially.
• Ability to promote effective communication between patient and provider.
• Team-oriented and able to work in a care-team setting.

Responsibilities

• Delivers compassionate assistance to patients within ODCHC Model of Care.
• Obtains and records patient histories, vitals, and test results.
• Prepares patients for visits with screenings and rooming duties.
• Performs chart preparation and rapid confirmation calls.
• Follows Epic EMR workflows for MA duties and documentation.
• Administers medications and immunizations as directed by licensed staff.
• Setups for minor procedures and specimen collection.
• Floats to other clinics when needed to ensure staffing.
