Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited school.
• Documentation and completion of 160 hours of externship or 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Type at least 35 w.p.m.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Nevada Laboratory License required (if applicable).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR (EPIC is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Works closely with medical providers to provide comprehensive health care to patients.
• Prepares for patient visits by ensuring labs, diagnostics, and discharge summaries are ready.
• Assists in clinical services: taking vitals, performing EKGs, immunizations, skin tests, vision/hearing tests, and blood draws.
• Maintains accurate documentation for encounters, vitals, records, and screenings.
• Operates medical equipment (EKG, audiometry, glucometer, spirometer, HbA1c, autoclave).
• Administers vaccines and medications following five rights and barcode scanning.
• Adheres to vaccine funding sources and protocols.
• Supports patient education and discharge processes; coordinates referrals.
