Job summary

Akron Children's in Beachwood, OH seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. Onsite with a variable schedule, 64 hours bi-weekly, the role includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus and is anchored in a busy pediatric care setting.

The MA will prepare patients, take vital signs, perform phlebotomy as needed, document in EPIC, and assist with lab specimen collection and routine office duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completed approved Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program.
• BLS certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by the Providers according to policy and procedure.
• Collects data contributing to the assessment and evaluation of patient needs, including discharge plans, under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens according to policy and procedure.
• Communicates patient findings to the Provider and/or Licensed Nurse using appropriate documentation processes.
• Accurate and timely documentation of care within EPIC system.
• Performs scheduling, visit preparation, co-payment collection and patient tracking as needed.
• Performs department-specific clinical duties such as POCT, hearing and vision screenings, and other procedures.
• Performs routine office duties such as faxing, copying, filing as needed.
• Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms.
• Develops positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Follows safety policies to ensure a safe environment.
