UTHealth Houston Surgery is hiring a Medical Assistant for a traveling position between Sugar Land and Bellaire. EPIC experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will have surgery scheduling experience, general surgical breast knowledge, and be detail-oriented.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Position Summary

Supports the clinical team in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote quality patient care and customer satisfaction
  • Prepare for patient visits, ensuring schedules, test results, and clinic requirements are ready
  • Room patients, document chief complaints, vital signs, medication lists, allergies, and other relevant information
  • Perform procedures like hearing and vision tests, EKG, spirometry, specimen collection, and equipment cleaning, as validated by competency
  • Maintain and stock clinic rooms and supplies
  • Assist with routine and specialty procedures
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and perform clerical duties
  • Handle telephone and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Certification and Skills

Knowledge of standard clinic equipment; BLS certification preferred.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program is preferred.

Minimum Experience

Six months of experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.

Physical Requirements

Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds frequently.

Additional Information

This position may be security sensitive per Texas Education Code §51.215. Residency in Texas is required.
