Job summary

Inova Cares For Children in Annandale, VA is hiring a Medical Assistant 1 for a full-time, day shift (Monday–Friday). The role supports patient flow, basic clinical tasks, and clerical duties in a pediatric-focused clinic within the Inova system.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification within 6 months of hire; prior experience in a medical group practice is preferred. Inova offers a comprehensive benefits package and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Previous experience in a medical group practice or similar setting.
• Basic Life Support certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Checks schedules and manages patient flow; records blood pressure, height, and weight; accompanies patients to exam/procedure rooms; assists with walking, specimen collection, phlebotomy, injections, and preparing patients for examinations.
• Fulfills clerical duties: handling medical records, lab/x-ray reports and forms; organizing charts and data to assist providers during encounters; instructs patients on testing requirements.
• Maintains environment: cleans rooms and equipment, arranges supplies, disposes of expired items, follows sterile techniques and universal precautions.
• Communicates patient and staff issues to practice manager; participates in clinic huddles and quality improvement initiatives.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
