Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

This full-time role (36 hours/week) supports patient flow, records vital signs, prepares exam rooms, collects specimens, and coordinates care using EPIC. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is available; day shift; onsite, with opportunities to contribute to positive patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent plus completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT, or Paramedic Program.
• BLS training is required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience with EPIC/EMR and Microsoft Office is preferred; knowledge of medical terminology is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by the Providers according to policy and procedure
• Collects data contributing to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and discharge plans under the direction of the Licensed Nurse
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens in accordance with policy and procedure
• Communicates patient findings to the Provider and/or Licensed Nurse using appropriate documentation processes
• Accurate and timely documentation of care within EPIC system
• Performs office duties such as appointment scheduling, visit preparation, co-payment collection and patient tracking
• Performs department-specific clinical duties such as POCT, hearing and vision screenings
• Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms; develops positive relationships with patients and families
• Follows safety policies to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
• Other duties as assigned
