The Medical Assistant follows prescribed clinical workflows and participates in clinical and/or administrative tasks.SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES1. Conducts chart prep for each patient daily and participates in daily huddles with the provider. Serves as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues; communicates with all patients, visitors, and colleagues in a professional manner while keeping customer service a top priority.2. Greets and shows patients to exam room and prepares patient for visit with provider; follows SOP for documentation in the e-HR and Standing Orders appropriate to the visit typePrepares patients for exam by measuring vital signs, reviewing screening questionnaires and accurately records information in patient chart. Addresses or alerts provider of concernsReviews and updates current medication list, problem list, patient medical history, surgical history, and family history, making changes as needed. Addresses or alerts provider of concernsFollows established standards and protocols3. Administers injections and medications as prescribed by the provider and in accordance with protocol, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.4. Prepares and assists providers with various procedures exams as designated by the provider5. Implements standing orders.6. Performs various tests upon the request of the provider, including but not limited to: phlebotomy, hearing tests, EKGs, breathing treatments, and vision tests.7. Collects blood or other laboratory specimens and prepares them for further testing.8. Participates in test tracking and monitors overdue results.9. Administers the in-box to ensure patient communication and follow-up is completed and Clinician time is used wisely.10. Assures exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit; maintains and cleans medical instruments and equipment after each procedure.11. Assists provider and patient in reviewing and revising care plans and assesses patient progress; follows up with patient between visits as necessary.12. Assists with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventative and chronic disease services.13. Collaborates with care coordination to communicate all pertinent information for promoting coordinated activities among specialists, hospital admits, and emergency department visits to obtain all necessary patient information as well as any other necessary information needed to ensure continuity of care.14. Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.15. Handles all patient information in a confidential manner according to Union Community Care’s privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.16.
