Responsibilities
Job Summary

The Medical Assistant provides front and back office support, escorts patients to exam rooms, maintains clean and stocked exam rooms, and has knowledge of medical procedures. They ensure quality phone service, schedule patients, and manage patient records and paperwork. Under a provider’s guidance, they perform various patient examination and treatment duties, possibly at specialized sites. The MA proactively utilizes resources to serve patients effectively and supports team efforts to enhance patient experience and communication.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare treatment rooms, escort patients, obtain medical history, document chief complaints, and record vital signs.
  • Travel to off-site locations for diagnostic testing, injections, phlebotomy, and other procedures.
  • Administer injections and TB tests under supervision, perform venipuncture, and conduct CLIA-waived lab tests.
  • Handle telephone communications, relay information, and coordinate with pharmacies and insurance companies.
  • Perform front office duties including reception, scheduling, and chart maintenance.
  • Organize insurance authorizations and referrals, and assist case management as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program (Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum 6 months of Medical Assistant experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or equivalent, and passing a recognized certification exam (Required)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card (Required for Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites)
  • Medical Assistant Certification (e.g., CMA, CCMA, RMA) (Preferred, with reimbursement for exam costs)
