Job summary

Children's Minnesota in Minneapolis is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents as delegated by a provider or RN. Responsibilities include escorting patients, preparing meds, assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, and ensuring compliance with laws and policies.

Required: high school diploma, MA program OR LPN/LVN or RN; BLS certification. Preferred: 1 year of clinic experience; pediatric exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy and basic laboratory skills.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR completion of an LPN/LVN or RN program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam room and document information.
• Prepare and administer medications and injections as directed by a clinician.
• Assist with procedures and treatments such as hearing/vision tests, strep testing, nebulizer treatments and catheterizations.
• Perform specimen collection and processing for patient testing with dignity and confidentiality.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant role will provide professional family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents as delegated by a provider or RN which may include the following duties:

• Escort patients to exam room and appropriately document information.


• Prepare and administer medications and injections as directed by a clinician.


• Perform and assist with procedures and treatments as directed by clinician, such as; administering hearing/vision tests, rapid strep testing, nebulizer treatments and urine catheterizations.


• Perform laboratory specimen collection and processing to ensure the accurate and appropriate performance of patient testing while maintaining patient dignity, comfort and confidentiality.


• Maintain knowledge of, and comply with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR completion of an LPN/LVN or RN program.

Preferred

• 1 year experience in a clinic setting or completion of Medical Assistant externship at a Children's Minnesota Clinic.


• Pediatric experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Phlebotomy and basic laboratory skills (if required by clinic site).

License/Certifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Salary and Benefits

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.
