Job summary

Evergreen Health in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant (GYN) to support providers and ensure patient-focused care across three locations. The role involves preparation, vital signs, and coordinating tests with the medical team.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, CPR/BLS, and at least 1 year in a healthcare setting; CMA (AAMA) strongly preferred and EMR experience with Medent is a plus. Regular full-time schedule, 8am-4pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare practice required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• CMA (AAMA) certification strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Medent EMR and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates and supports the team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care.
• Performs clerical duties that drive efficient patient flow.
• Prepares patients for provider visits and/or procedures by taking vital signs; records medical history and determines risk factors.
• Facilitates lab and diagnostic tests at the request of the ordering provider.
• Conducts a review of scheduled patient charts to assist with pre-visit planning.
• Assists and prepares all paperwork on behalf of patients including prior authorizations for treatments and prescriptions, patient benefits, entitlements, disability, and other agency inquiries as assigned.
• Maintains exam rooms according to protocols; cleans rooms and equipment between patient exams to ensure patient comfort and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked and equipment is functioning properly.

As part of the essential functions of the role, the MedicalAssistant:

Qualified Candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, current valid CPR/BLS certification, and one (1) year of experience in a healthcare practice; candidate must be able to travel to our Buffalo locations; Medical Assistant Certification CMA (AAMA) strongly preferred; familiarity with EMR system (Medent) strongly preferred; candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally; demonstrate familiarity with computers and MS Office; awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential.

Job Type: Full-time; Candidate will work with GYN provider at three Evergreen locations: Bailey Ave, S. Elmwood, and Community Drive. Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.

Required education: High School Diploma or GED

Required experience: 1 year experience in a healthcare practice required; experience with EMR (Medent) systems strongly preferred

Required certification: CPR/BLS required; CMA (AAMA) strongly preferred
