Job summary

UPMC is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support the Pittsburgh Primary Care team in Pittsburgh. Shift options run Monday–Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Travel to Pleasant Hills and Brentwood may be required to support staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules and organize patient flow.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and exam preparation.
• Take patient history, vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Prepare and clean patient, exam, and procedure rooms to maintain infection control.
• Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health and other regulations.
• Follow UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs.
• Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information.
• Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
• Schedule appointments.
• Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is filed.
• Other front office responsibilities.
