Job Details

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. New Hire Bonus for eligible candidates.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage patient flow and perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals.
  2. Act as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction.
  3. Maintain and order supplies for their area as needed. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff in accordance with Jefferson's values. Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification.
  4. Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  5. Remain proficient with and knowledgeable about the use and documentation within information technology systems within the scope of practice.
  6. Assist physicians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections as needed, using appropriate skills to provide quality care.
  7. Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  8. Order and manage clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  1. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  3. Familiarity with medical office procedures.
Education & Experience:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  3. BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire. BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania locations.
  4. Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting is preferred.
  5. For NJ only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  6. For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification is not required if currently employed in a Medical Assistant role at Einstein prior to 7/1/2024 and transferring within Einstein entities.
