Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician or mid-level provider by performing the following duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Interviews patients and performs office duties such as measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height). Records all information, including medical history, in patients' charts.
  2. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  3. Drapes patients with coverings, positions instruments and equipment, hands instruments and materials to the provider as directed.
  4. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials; calls medical facilities to schedule tests.
  5. Administers injections or treatments and logs this information promptly as required.
  6. Schedules appointments for ancillary services.
  7. Maintains office and patient records.
  8. Responsible for maintaining equipment logs.
  9. Oversees lab controls and in-house lab testing.
  10. Manages inventory and proper handling of stocked medications.
  11. Handles difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needs.
  12. Understands computer software and has a general knowledge of electronic medical record programs.
  13. Assists in all areas of the clinic as needed.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  1. High school diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certificate from college or technical school.
  2. Medical Assistant certification from an accredited certifying institution.
  3. BLS certification.
  4. Three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  5. Medical Assistant Certification required; BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
