Job summary

AVALA is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist with patient care and support a supervising physician. Travel to Metairie, Hammond and Slidell will be required to ensure seamless patient flow and accurate record handling.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Take notes during patient visits and document them in the electronic health records system.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team to ensure efficient flow of patients during visits.
  • Assist Physicians in completing medical records.
  • Coordinate scheduling of physicians procedures based on surgeon, case length, and day of week.
  • Handle patient calls, refill requests, and other clinic duties promptly.
  • Assist electronically prescribing medications for patients.
  • Communicate professionally with patients and Physicians.

Travel required to Metairie, Hammond and Slidell

Assists withthe delivery of care to patients. Works with patient care team to ensure theefficient flow of patients throughout their visit, providing support to them aswell as to the supervising physician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Takingnotes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic healthrecords system.
  • Learningabout the medical process and using a team approach with patient documentation.
  • Workingwith a Physician to complete medical records.
  • Communicatingwith patients and Physicians professionally.
  • Handlingall patient calls, refill request, all clinic duties with in timely matter.
  • Helpingelectronically prescribe medication for patients.
  • Coordinatesphysicians procedure schedule by scheduling cases appropriately based onsurgeon, case length, and day of week.

Regulatory Requirements
