Job summary

NeoPath Health, Inc. seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to support a Green Bay area employer-sponsored primary care clinic. The role combines administrative and clinical duties to keep the office running smoothly and to ensure high-quality patient care.

The Medical Assistant will perform vital signs, phlebotomy, immunizations, specimen preparation, and assist clinicians. Certification and basic computer/EHR skills are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required, EHR experience preferred.
  • Ability to cooperate, collaborate and communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and visitors warmly and meets their needs.
  • Verifies patient information and medical history.
  • Assists practitioners during examinations and prepares specimens.
  • Maintains patient flow and organizes exam rooms.
  • Assists with procedures and basic lab/testing as needed.
  • Administers injections and immunizations as ordered.
  • Documents information in the EHR per policy.
  • Cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms and equipment.
  • Communicates with patients about follow-up and test results.
  • Supports coordination with outside clinical partners.

Job description

NeoPath Health, Inc., a Minnesota based administrator of employer based medical services, is in search of a full-time medical assistant to work at an employer-sponsored primary care clinic in the Green Bay area.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting practitioners and clinical team members with the care and treatment of patients in a primary care and/or occupational health care setting. The Medical Assistant will perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a practitioner. They will be responsible for keeping the medical office or facility running in a smooth manner. The Medical Assistant assumes responsibility for maintaining patient flow, upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, performing clinical skills such as taking vital signs, phlebotomy, and point of care testing. This position requires a high degree of interpersonal and organizational skills. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Welcomes patients and visitors by warmly greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone, and makes every effort to meet their needs.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit, treatment, and all pertinent health information.
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care practitioners during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; dispensing medication as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures and other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.
  • Prepares and supports patients and assists practitioner with procedures.
  • Performs basic lab and testing procedures according to standards.
  • Administers injections including immunizations as ordered by practitioner(s).
  • Demonstrates appropriate care of patients throughout the care continuum, including pediatric and elderly patients. Provides culturally sensitive care.
  • Documents pertinent patient-related information in the EHR (Electronic health record) per policy.
  • Cleans, prepares, and stocks exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workstations.
  • Contacts patients regarding follow-up, test results, medical instruction, and patient education under the direction of a practitioner.
  • Communicates with outside clinical partners under the direction of practitioner.
  • Assists in the care, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and instruments.
  • Maintains quality control for equipment.
  • Utilizes safety standards, clinical best practice in all aspects of care delivery.
  • Follows all NeoPath policies and processes.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Current AAMA certification preferred but not required.
