Job summary

Community Health Centers of America in Turlock, CA seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to support back-office clinical tasks and front-office duties, Monday through Friday at our local clinic. The role includes taking vital signs, patient education, scheduling, insurance verification, and coordination with providers.

Travel to nearby sites may be required for staffing or training. Ideal candidates have MA certification, BLS, 2 years of MA experience, and strong bilingual or communication skills;

Qualifications

• 2 years Medical Assistant experience preferred (primary care or multi-specialty)
• FQHC experience preferred
• Medical Assistant (MA) certification
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Bilingual fluency preferred
• Effective organizational and communication skills
• Ability to learn and adapt to needs of the clinic
• Willingness to travel to other site, when needed
• High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Reception, answer phones and schedule appointments
• Verify insurance eligibility and coordinate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
• Assist patients with registration forms and maintain accurate files and medical records
• Perform data entry related to patient billing, transcription, and insurance claims
• Arrange for referrals
• Process prescription requests
• Track inventory and supplies
• Follow legal and ethical standards in all tasks
• Measure and record vital signs, patient interview, history and chief complaint
• Provide patient education on medication, disease management, home treatment and special diets
• Prepare patients for examination and perform routine screening tests and assist healthcare providers with exams
• Collection of lab specimens, perform basic lab tests and EKGs, assist with x-rays and procedures
• Prepare and administer medications with healthcare provider's authorization
• Change dressing, apply bandages, remove sutures, perform CPR and other first aid procedures
• Maintain supplies and equipment, stock and sterile instruments
