Job summary

Honeycomb Management Group is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant Floater to support providers across Memphis clinics. You will perform essential patient care tasks, prepare exam rooms, document visits, and coordinate schedules to keep operations running smoothly.

Candidates should have at least five years of CMA experience, current certification (AAMA or AMT RMA), and a high school diploma. Strong terminology, communication, organizational, and patient-first approach are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • MA Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and prepares medical records to ensure completeness prior to patient exam, obtaining missing documentation.
  • Documents clinic visit, observations, and related activities.
  • Assists with initiation of patient history and physical assessment and with physician exams.
  • Checks patient vital signs and records results in the patient chart.
  • Prepares and maintains exam and treatment rooms and keeps the environment clean after discharges.
  • Maintains supplies inventory and ensures equipment is clean and functioning; reports issues.
  • Collects specimens and prepares them for lab; performs urinalysis and prepares results for physicians.
  • Administers breathing treatments, injections, and EKGs.
  • Answers calls and relays patient requests; provides patient/family education within scope.

The MedicalAssistant Floater plays a critical role in assisting healthcare providers withdirect patient care.

Thisposition requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience. Qualifiedcandidates must possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, communicationskills, organizational skills, and a patient-focused attitude.

Dutiesand Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and prepares medical records to ensurecompleteness prior to patient exam, obtaining missing documentation.Documents clinic visit, observations, and related activities.
  • Assists with initiation of patient history and physicalassessment. Assist physicians with physical exams and simple in-houseprocedures.
  • Checks patient vital signs and takes body measurements,documenting results in patient chart.
  • Prepares and maintains exam and treatment rooms,cleaning after patient discharges to ensure a clean and sanitizedenvironment.
  • Maintains supplies inventory and ensures patient careequipment is clean and properly functioning, reporting defective equipmentand supplies to supervisor.
  • Collects specimens and prepares them for lab andperforms urinalysis on urine specimens. Prepares lab results forphysicians to sign.
  • Administers breathing treatments, injections, performsEKGs, etc.
  • Answers phone calls, relaying patient requests andquestions to appropriate individuals. Explains provider instructions topatient, as appropriate. Provides teaching to patients and families withinscope of knowledge base.
  • Assists with scheduling/referral of patients forspecific treatments.
  • Responds to medical emergencies and administers firstaid as appropriate.
  • Provide Medical Assistant clinical support for othersite locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
MinimumQualifications:
  • High school diploma orequivalent
  • Successful completionof an approved Medical Assistant program
  • Five (5) years ofexperience as a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Medical AssistantCertification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) orfor the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American MedicalTechnologists (AMT)
  • Must possess andmaintain a valid driver’s license
PhysicalRequirements:

The physical activities of this position mayinclude climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping,kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance andcoordination. The physical requirements of this position are medium work -exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of forcefrequently. The Medical Assistant Floater is required to have close visualacuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform anactivity, such as assessing patients, and analyzing data and figures;transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Frequent invasiveand non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well asexposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
