Job summary

TOC- The Orthopaedic Center is seeking a Medical Assistant/Floater to support various clinical teams. The role involves assisting physicians, managing patient communication, and helping with clinical functions under supervision. Ideal candidates should have clinical experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Perform general nursing duties and assist with patient education.
  • Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires.

  • Assist various physicians and APP’s under the direction of Clinical Coordinator
  • Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed
  • Utilize EMR for various clinical functions
  • Perform wound care/dressing changes
  • Drawing up injections
  • Electronically prescribe medications under supervision of M.D.
  • Application of sterile fields
  • X-ray duties as needed
  • Application and removal of casts and splints
  • Locate and print office notes, test results or reports for upcoming appointments
  • Locate imaging on various programs
  • Schedule and precert MRI’S, lab work, procedures, and surgeries
  • Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, etc.
  • Prepare for clinic by printing out patient information as requested by physician
  • Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
  • Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires
  • Friendly and Professional patient communication
  • Answering and returning patient phone calls
  • Provide various forms of patient education and handouts
  • Escorting patients to and from exam rooms
  • Appointment/surgery reminder calls
  • Respond to and chart patient messages
  • Communicate test results to patients with direction from physician

Must Also Possess

  • Minimum one-year full time clinical experience in healthcare preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
  • Independent, self-starting and highly motivated
  • Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
  • Proven positive, “teamwork” attitude and work history

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to use arms, hands and fingers skillfully
  • Constant standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time
  • Must be agile and able to work efficiently in space limited areas
  • Consistently work at a productive pace
  • Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
