The Medical Assistant Float assists physicians with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, conducting diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vital sign measurements. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed. As a Float, the incumbent works at 5+ different locations within their assigned area regularly.

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson's values.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and verifies proper identification.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history.
  • Remains proficient with IT systems relevant to their scope of practice.
  • Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures; may perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections.
  • Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
  • Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.
  • Ability to travel to various locations.
Education & Experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire; acceptable providers include the American Heart Association or possibly the American Red Cross depending on location.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • For NJ applicants: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification is not required if transferring within Einstein with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024.
