Job summary

The Medical Assistant primary responsibility is patient care; assisting the physician during office procedures and physical examinations, maintaining patient histories and recording pertinent patient information in the medical record, etc. The Medical Assistant is equally responsible for a variety of clerical skills including patient phone calls, scheduling appointments, insurance verification, collection of copays, accurate completion of day log. Must be able to utilize computer in both clinical and clerical areas. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel between all SGMG offices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program.

Required length and type of experience:

Six months experience in a Physician office setting, with generalized Medical Assisting knowledge preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills with the general public, in person, and on the phone. Necessary clinical skills include: venipuncture, injections, vital signs, sterilization, assisting physician during physical exams and procedures. General knowledge of computer skills.
